Dr Swapan Paul

Dr Swapan Paul is a practicing ecologist.  He is the Senior Wetlands Ecologist at the Sydney Olympic Park Authority, which is a NSW State Government agency in Australia. Swapan is responsible for planning and managing projects and programs targeting adaptive management of wetlands in the Park. He has completed his PhD in 1990 in wetland ecology and management. Swapan has over 35 years of experience working overseas, as well as in local and State government positions in Australia. He is the architect of the Wetland Education and Training (WET) Program, which primarily provides wetland training. Since 2020, Swapan leads the Sydney Wetland Institute. Swapan is a Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) and was awarded the 2024 Outstanding Wetland Educator by the Society of Wetland Scientists.
